 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS DURING INSURANCE ENFORCEMENT IN KOGI. (PHOTOS).


 Police Arrest Two Suspected Armed Robbers During Insurance Enforcement in Kogi


The Nigeria Police in Kogi State have arrested two suspected armed robbers, identified as Mohammed Chelim and Oneh Mohammed, along the Harbour Bay-Egume Road.


The suspects were apprehended during the enforcement of Third-Party Insurance, following the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.


Recovered Weapons and Investigation


Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), William Ovye Aya, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Friday, revealing that the suspects were found in possession of two locally made pistols.


“During interrogation, they failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for their movements, prompting a search that led to the discovery of a locally made pistol,” the statement read.


Police Commitment to Security


The Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, commended the officers for their vigilance and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working with other security agencies to eliminate criminal activities in the state.


Residents were also urged to support security efforts by providing credible information on suspicious activities in the state.one more photo below.
