 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  VIRAL VIDEO OF ALLEGED POLICE BRUTALITY IN ENUGU: PUBLIC ADVISED TO DISREGARD THE RECIRCULATED 5-YEAR-OLD VIDEO MEANT TO MISLEAD AND CAUSE MISCHIEF


The Enugu State Police Command urges the public to disregard a viral video depicting policemen allegedly assaulting a young man in Enugu for refusing to allow a phone search. A thorough review of the video, which is currently recirculated by one "De-Oracle", revealed that the incident occurred over five years ago, on January 4, 2020. The police officers involved were immediately identified, tried, and appropriately sanctioned following the disciplinary procedures of the Nigeria Police Force.


It was also established that the video was deliberately recycled and recirculated to mislead the public and create unnecessary and unwarranted tension between the police and law-abiding citizens.


The Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), warns those behind this malicious act to desist forthwith. He further reassures the public of the Command's unwavering commitment to professionalism, respect for human rights, and the rule of law.
