 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  AKILI OZIZOR COMMUNITY SEEKS GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION AGAINST ILLEGAL MINING

Akili Ozizor, a community in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State has sought the intervention of the state government on the recent activities of illegal mining going on in the community. 


The President General of Akili Ozizor Community, Mr John Odua, with his team, while briefing the Managing Director/CEO, Anambra State Solid Minerals Development Company Limited, Prof.Charles O.Ofoegbu on the latest development, stated that as people living in the riverine area, being fully aware of the topographic nature and porosity of their soil,  it's disheartening that some illegal miners in the community have resumed their activities without being cleared from the relevant authorities, which inturn leads to their structures being destroyed and subjecting their arable lands to degradation and erosion havoc.


According to him "It is for our best interest and the interest of the entire community that we are here to lay complaints and seek your support to fight these illegal sand miners who are bent on destroying our environment and community as a whole.


" The only road that leads to Ogbaru is being tampered with, Akili Ozizor has lost not less than 15 houses to erosion because of illegal mining, it is giving us concern and we cannot keep quiet anymore", he lamented. 


Responding, the Managing Director/CEO of Anambra State Solid Minerals Development Company Limited, Prof.Charles O.Ofoegbu hinted that despite several attempts by the state government to stop every illegal mining activities going in the state, pending when they are cleared to mine, some non state actors have decided to go contrary to the government's directives. 


He condemned the act and frowned at the length at which people can go to endanger the lives and livelihoods of their fellow human being in the quest for wealth.


Prof. Ofoegbu who is also the Chairman, Anambra State Mining Reform Committee while reiterating the state government's commitment towards reforming the mining sector, assured them that all necessary steps would be taken to stop their activities. He also said his team would be visiting the community to give a detailed report armed with which the governor will take further actions.
