 ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND RECEIVES AND AUGMENTS IGP’S MONITORING UNIT OPERATIVES ON ENFORCEMENT OF POLICE PERSONNEL WITHDRAWAL FROM VIP ESCORT DUTIES IN THE STATE The Anambra State Police Command today 8th December 2025 formally received operatives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP)’s Monitoring Unit deployed to the state to ensure full implementation of the IGP’s directive on the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP escort and guard duties. The Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting the IGP’s reform efforts targeted at enhancing professionalism, discipline, and optimal deployment of police manpower nationwide. The CP noted that the withdrawal of these officers will help to strengthen public policing, improve response capacity, and ensure that more personnel are available for core policing duties across the state.  Eviction alert: Lagos gives street traders 48 hours to vacate or face action


The Lagos State Government has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to traders occupying road medians from Ebute-Ero to Oja Oba in Lagos Island, warning them to vacate immediately or face enforcement action.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Lagos, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the directive on Saturday, stating that the move aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to restoring order, cleanliness, and security in the state.

“The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources has served a 48-hour vacation notice to traders selling and sleeping on the median from Ebute-Ero-Iga Idungaran to Oja Oba in Lagos Island,” Wahab said.

He emphasised that the government would not tolerate street trading and illegal habitation on road medians, stressing that such activities compromise public safety and environmental health.

“This is in line with the Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu-led administration’s commitment to ensuring cleanliness and sanity in our environments, and also the security of life and properties of all Lagosians,” he added.

The state government has been intensifying its efforts to reclaim public spaces, clear illegal structures, and enforce environmental laws to improve urban living conditions.

Enforcement teams are expected to move in once the ultimatum expires.
