 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  Eviction alert: Lagos gives street traders 48 hours to vacate or face action


The Lagos State Government has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to traders occupying road medians from Ebute-Ero to Oja Oba in Lagos Island, warning them to vacate immediately or face enforcement action.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Lagos, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the directive on Saturday, stating that the move aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to restoring order, cleanliness, and security in the state.

“The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources has served a 48-hour vacation notice to traders selling and sleeping on the median from Ebute-Ero-Iga Idungaran to Oja Oba in Lagos Island,” Wahab said.

He emphasised that the government would not tolerate street trading and illegal habitation on road medians, stressing that such activities compromise public safety and environmental health.

“This is in line with the Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu-led administration’s commitment to ensuring cleanliness and sanity in our environments, and also the security of life and properties of all Lagosians,” he added.

The state government has been intensifying its efforts to reclaim public spaces, clear illegal structures, and enforce environmental laws to improve urban living conditions.

Enforcement teams are expected to move in once the ultimatum expires.
