M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. GOV. OTTI COMMENDS PROF. NNENNA OTI FOR INTEGRITY DURING 2023 ELECTION AT HER DAUGTER'S WEDDING CEREMONY. (PHOTO).

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has commended Professor Nnenna Oti, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, for her integrity and fearlessness during the 2023 election in Abia State. The governor's praise came during the wedding ceremony of Prof. Oti's daughter, Dr. Onyinyechi Orieoma, and Engr. Ugochukwu Peter, held in Ebonyi State.

Governor Otti acknowledged Prof. Oti's refusal to succumb to pressure and her adherence to her conscience, which he believes led to his victory in the polls. He also addressed the coincidence of their similar names, which some had used to allege a relationship. However, Governor Otti clarified that he had never met Prof. Oti before her appointment as the returning officer for Abia State in 2023.

The governor expressed his gratitude to Prof. Oti for her role in ensuring the integrity of the electoral process. He stated, "I want to use this podium to recognize her and thank her for what she did for Abia people. I think it's more like what she did for God, because she followed her conscience; if she didn't, I wouldn't be here today".

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Honourable Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Engr. Ikechukwu Monday, and former Senate President, H.E. Sen. Dr. Ken Nnamani. Governor Otti congratulated the newlywed couple and advised the bride to prioritize her relationship with her husband, citing Prof. Oti's example of still cooking for her husband despite her busy schedule.
