Oguamaye, NYSC Controversy: Davido was sanctioned – Omokri wants disciplinary action against corper

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has called for disciplinary action against a youth corps member, Ushie Uguamaye, who criticized president Bola Tinubu.

Uguamaye had expressed her frustration over Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions, tagging President Tinubu as a “terrible leader”.

National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, member’s rant was prompted by the federal government’s failure to implement the new N77, 000 increments of the corps members allowances.

The development generated diverse reactions on social media, after Uguamaye accused NYSC officials of threatening her to take down the video she made.

She further claimed that NYSC officials are accusing her of breaking the code of conduct guiding the service.

While denying the NYSC allegation, Uguamaye maintained that she did not commit any crime, “I made sure not to accuse the government of anything maliciously! I questioned them. I asked questions. As an NYSC Corper, I did not sign off my freedom of speech”.

In response, Nigerians took to online to express solidarity with her, accusing the NYSC of intimidation.

Reacting to the incident in a post on X, Reno Omokri said the development was influenced by tribal discrimination.

While demanding disciplinary action against her, Omokri recalled how NYSC terminated Davido’s participation for violating its rules.

“This is not about politics or ethnicity. Under President Buhari the NYSC disciplined Davido for flouting its rule. The people of the Southwest didn’t accuse the NYSC of tribalism, the PDP didn’t accuse President Buhari of witch hunting an opposition politician. There must be a rule of law in Nigeria rather than rule by sentiments”.
