 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.  Eleven Police Officers Charged in Alleged Alcohol Heist


Eleven police officers, including two commissioned officers, appeared in the Vereeniging Regional Court on charges of theft, extortion, and corruption. The charges stem from an incident during the COVID-19 pandemic, where the officers allegedly stole alcohol and money from a shop after accusing the owner of illegal sales.


The officers reportedly confiscated R600,000 worth of alcohol, R700,000 in cash, and a hard drive. While the complainant and his father were handcuffed, a backup CCTV hard drive captured them taking the alcohol.


The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has decided to proceed with charges against the officers.
