 Gov. Ododo’s Executive Proclamation Not State of Emergency  Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo  has clarified that his recent Executive Proclamation on security protocols in the state is not a declaration of a state of emergency but a set of necessary measures to enhance the security architecture to crackdown on criminals in all parts of the state.  This was contained in a statement by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Hon. Ismaila Isah, explaining that the proclamation is a lawful constitutional measure aimed at strengthening security coordination and protecting lives and property across Kogi State.  Gov. Ododo emphasized that it is within his powers as the Chief Security Officer of the state under Section 14 subsection 2(b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).  Tragedy Strikes Abia Community as Banished Commercial Motorcyclist Meets Untimely Death


A devastating incident has shaken the Obuoro community in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, following the murder of a commercial motorcyclist, Mr. Okezie Onyema Onyendu. The victim, who was allegedly banished by his community over a land dispute, succumbed to injuries sustained from a brutal attack on March 7, 2025.


According to reports, Onyendu was assaulted at Amawom village, where his attackers severed one of his ears and stole his motorcycle, phone, and earnings. His widow, Mrs. Ogechi Okezie, claims that her husband's murder was a result of a conspiracy within their community.


Mrs. Okezie revealed that her husband was banished in February 2024 for refusing to relinquish his land to a distant relative. Despite taking the matter to court, with a hearing scheduled for March 12, Onyendu's life was brutally cut short.


The Abia State Police Command has confirmed that the incident was reported to the Police Area Command in Umuahia, and investigations are ongoing. The community is demanding justice for the late Okezie Onyema Onyendu, calling for a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding his tragic death.
