27-year-old Naomi Elkins first captured the attention of the nation after the shocking events that occurred in her home on June 25th, 2024.

Naomi made a chilling call to Hatzolah Ambulance service. In that call, Naomi stated "I did something to my kids" and "they're drowning". She informed dispatchers that her children might still be alive even though they quit "fighting".

When first responders arrived to the home they were met by a heartbreaking scene. Naomi's two young daughters had both lost their lives at the hands of the one person whose job was to protect them.

The ensuing investigation uncovered the tragic details of the little 1-year-old and 3-year-old girl's last moments. Naomi had stabbed the 1-year-old in the stomach before "holding her under water while she counted to 50 several times".

After witnessing her little sister's horrible fate, the 3-year-old girl ran from her mother and tried to hide. Naomi caught the child and physically sat on top of her to hold her down while the tub slowly filled with water,  eventually drowning the young girl.

Now in a court ruling on April 1st, Naomi Elkins was found not guilty in the murders of her two daughters by reason of insanity.  From the early stages of the investigation, Naomi claimed to have taken her children's life for religious purposes.

Her lawyers successful claimed that Naomi had been experiencing a psychotic episode. They claimed she believed she was destroying all the evil in the world by taking her children's lives. Lawyers also cited Naomi's long history of documented mental illness . The Ocean County Prosecutors Office have stated they cannot dispute the claim that Naomi was legally insane at the time of her children's deaths.

Naomi Elkins has been ordered to spend 2 lifetimes (75 years each) in a secure psychiatric hospital.
