Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. China Warns U.S. Tariffs Could Spark Humanitarian Crisis in Developing Nations

China's Commerce Minister, Wang Wentao, has issued a stark warning regarding the escalating trade tensions between the United States and China. In a recent video call with World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Wang expressed deep concern that the U.S.'s increasing tariffs on Chinese goods could have devastating effects on developing countries, potentially leading to a humanitarian crisis.

Wang emphasized that the U.S.'s "reciprocal tariffs" would inflict serious harm on developing nations, especially the least developed countries. He stated that these measures introduce significant uncertainty and instability into the global economy, causing chaos both internationally and within the United States itself.

This warning comes in the wake of President Donald Trump's decision to raise tariffs on Chinese imports to a staggering 145%, citing a lack of respect from China. In retaliation, China has increased its tariffs on U.S. goods to 125%. The tit-for-tat tariff increases have raised concerns about a potential global economic downturn, with economists warning of rising inflation and the risk of recession.

The escalating trade war between the U.S. and China is not just a bilateral issue; it has far-reaching implications for the global economy, particularly for developing nations.

China's warning about a potential humanitarian crisis underscores the severity of the situation.
