 Unknown individuals looted palliatives at our Owerri rally – City Boy Movement An empowerment programme organised by the City Boy Movement, a support group for President Bola Tinubu, descended into disorder on Saturday when a large crowd surged forward and looted items intended for distribution to beneficiaries across Nigeria's South-East region. The event, held at Heroes Square in Owerri, marked the official launch of the Renewed Hope National Tour and the City Boy Movement South-East Youth Tour and Empowerment Programme on March 14, 2026. It aimed to provide support to young people, market traders, and vulnerable individuals from Abia, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, and Enugu states.  NAFDAC Reopens Onitsha Drug Market After Month-Long Closure


The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has reopened the Onitsha Head Bridge drug market, popularly known as 'Ogbo Ogwu', after a month-long closure for sanitization and regulatory enforcement. The market was shut down as part of NAFDAC's nationwide clampdown on fake and substandard medicines.


To prevent a recurrence of the issues that led to the closure, NAFDAC has implemented strict administrative conditions for reopening. Shop owners are required to complete documentation and clearance procedures before their shops can be unsealed. A dedicated NAFDAC desk has been established to facilitate the process efficiently, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.²


According to NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, only shops that meet the conditions will be allowed to resume operations. Shop owners have been directed to obtain and sign an undertaking, along with a penalty for past violations of distribution regulations.


The reopening of the market follows a meeting between NAFDAC officials and market union leaders. NAFDAC had seized over 50 trailers of fake drugs during the closure.
