 U.S announces visa curbs for some foreign nationals in South Africa Secretary of State Marco Rubio ‌said on Tuesday the U.S. government was announcing a new visa restriction ​policy targeting some foreign nationals ​in South Africa. The policy targets "foreign ⁠nationals who are responsible for, ​or complicit in, the enactment or ​implementation of laws or policies that enable uncompensated land seizures, race-based discrimination, and/or ​the incitement of imminent violence ​against members of minority ethnic or racial ‌groups ⁠in South Africa," Rubio said in a statement. "The South African government has not adequately addressed the ​previously laid ​out ⁠concerns," Rubio said, Reuters reported. Relations between Washington and Pretoria have ​soured since the start of ​Donald ⁠Trump's second term, with the U.S. president criticizing the country ⁠for ​its policies aimed at ​addressing racial inequality.

 NFF Denies Owing Late Super Eagles Captain Christian Chukwu $128,000


The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has refuted social media claims that it owes the late former Super Eagles captain and coach, Christian Chukwu, $128,000. Chukwu, fondly known as “Chairman,” passed away on Saturday.


In a statement released on Monday, NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi dismissed the allegations as baseless, asserting that the federation’s financial records show no outstanding debt to Chukwu. “During the first term of the Amaju Pinnick-led Board, a committee was established to thoroughly review claims of unpaid wages to coaches, including debts inherited from previous administrations. To the best of our knowledge, there is no record of indebtedness to Christian Chukwu,” Sanusi said.


Chukwu, who captained Nigeria to the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations title, served as head coach of the Super Eagles from 2002 to 2005, before being sacked after a 1-1 draw against Angola in a FIFA World Cup qualifier in Kano.


Sanusi challenged anyone with verifiable evidence of unpaid debts to Chukwu or any other national team coach over the past 20 years to come forward. “As a responsible and credible organization, the NFF remains committed to meeting its obligations. If anyone can provide authentic documentation proving that we owe a coach, we will honor the debt without hesitation,” he stated.


The NFF also extended its condolences to Chukwu’s family and the Nigerian football community, recognizing his significant contributions to the sport.
