 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. ILLINOIS: THREE FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS POLICE OFFICERS WERE SHOT LATE SATURDAY NIGHT. (PHOTO).

 Illinois- Three Fairview Heights police officers were shot late Saturday night. 


Fairview Heights PD were called to the report of a suspicious individual prowling near homes on Potomac Drive. Officers arrived on the scene a little before 10:00 p.m. and made contact with an individual who matched the description of the prowler. Officers reported the suspect was involved in what they described as a "domestic situation".


As police arrived on the scene and began to intervene, the suspect opened fire on the officers. One officer was struck in the face, while another was shot in the arm. A third officer was struck in the back, luckily his Kevlar vest prevented the bullet from penetrating the officer. 


The suspect was subdued, however, two additional officers were injured while making the arrest.  


The officer who was shot in the face was rushed to a nearby hospital where she underwent emergency surgery. She is listed in critical but stable condition. The officer struck in the arm suffered a broken bone as a result of the gunshot wound. He remains in the hospital receiving treatment for his injuries.  All other injured officers were treated and released. 


The suspect has not been identified and remains in custody at this time. The Illinois State Police have taken over the investigation at this point.


Our thoughts are with the injured officers and their families. We hope they have full recoveries.
