 ANAMBRA POLICE ACTION ON THE CULT CLASH THAT RESULTED IN THE FATAL INJURY OF FOUR PERSONS AT AFOR NAWFIA MARKET The Anambra State Police Command wishes to provide a comprehensive update on the cult-related attack that occurred on the evening of 7th December 2025 at Afor Nawfia Market, along the Onitsha–Awka Old Road. It will be recalled that operatives of the Command attached to the Special Anti-Cult Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, had, four days earlier, acting on credible intelligence about a planned rival cult confrontation, arrested two dangerous suspects and recovered a firearm from them. The arrested suspects have been assisting the Police with valuable information aimed at preventing further cult-related violence within Awka and its environs.  Ukraine’s allies call Russian demands unacceptable after first talks in years




• Peace talks: Russia and Ukraine held their first direct talks in three years, where they discussed a ceasefire and talks between the two countries’ leaders. But there were no signs of a major breakthrough - a Ukrainian source said that the Russian delegation demanded that Kyiv give up land under its control.


 Notably, neither Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky or Russian President Vladimir Putin were there, after several days of confusion. Zelensky criticized Putin for not sending “any real decision-makers” for the talks.


 too: Another key absence was that of US President Donald Trump, who had repeatedly hinted he might upend his Middle East travel schedule to join the negotiations. He’s pushing to meet Putin.


 The leaders of the UK, France, Germany and Poland spoke with Zelensky and Trump after Friday’s talks, calling Russia’s position “unacceptable.”
