 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  No Plateau Delegation Has Visited Zaria Over Slain Travellers In Mangu – Emir Of Zazzau


The Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has lamented that no official delegation from the Plateau State Government has visited Zaria to condole with the families of the wedding-bound travellers who were killed in an attack in Mangu, Plateau State.


The monarch made the remarks while receiving former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, who paid a condolence visit to the palace in Zaria.


According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), at least 12 individuals, including the father and brother of the groom from the Bassawa community in Zaria, lost their lives in the June 20 attack. Eleven others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital in Kaduna.


The emir expressed disappointment over the Plateau Government's silence, saying, “As at the time of your visit, no official delegation from Plateau has come to Zaria to condole with the victims’ families or assess the situation.”


He appreciated the show of solidarity from Mr. Dalung and called on the Plateau Government to take swift action and ensure justice is served.


During the visit, the emir and his guests also discussed strategies to promote peace, religious tolerance, and mutual understanding between Kaduna and Plateau States.


Mr. Dalung, visibly shaken, described the incident as tragic and shameful, especially considering that both the perpetrators and victims hail from the same Northern region. He extended his condolences to the Bassawa community and the Zazzau Emirate, urging restraint and calling on authorities to prosecute those arrested in connection with the killings. He also stressed the importance of arresting others still at large.


In his remarks, Pastor Yohanna Buru, General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, condemned the killings, calling them “unprovoked and senseless.” He emphasized that the victims were simply en route to a wedding.


Imam Ilyasu Husain, Morchid of Jama’atul Nasrul Islam in Kaduna, noted that the condolence delegation — comprising both Muslim and Christian clerics — was a symbol of shared grief and unity. He commended figures like Pastor Buru, Mr. Dalung, and former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (rtd.), for their commitment to peacebuilding and national unity.


He urged citizens to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and supportive of ongoing efforts to resolve the crisis.
