Olympic gymnastics legend Simone Biles delivered a scathing response to former swimmer Riley Gaines after Gaines mocked a 17-year-old transgender softball player who helped lead her Minnesota high school team to a state championship.

Biles called Gaines "truly sick" and a "straight up sore loser," referencing Gaines' tie for fifth place with transgender swimmer Lia Thomas at the 2022 NCAA Championships. The seven-time Olympic gold medalist didn't stop there, writing: "You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive... But instead... You bully them." Gaines fired back, defending her stance that "men don't belong in women's sports." This heated exchange highlights the ongoing national debate over transgender athletes in competitive sports. The young softball pitcher, Marissa Rothenberger, threw a complete-game shutout to secure her team's victory.
