A Canadian court has found a Nigerian teacher guilty of punishing students with a cane - calling it assault with a weapon.
Although it's normal for teachers to strike students with a cane in Africa, it is against the law in Canada and John Olubobokun now has a case to answer for beating nine students.
Olubobokun, a former director of a private Christian school in Saskatoon, Canada - Legacy Christian Academy from 2003 to 2007 - was charged with beating nine students with a wooden paddle.
The court heard testimonies from the students and ruled that how the teacher disciplined students negated Section 43 law of Canada. Olubobokun now awaits sentencing.
