‎IF WE DO NOT ROTATE THE PRESIDENCY, NOBODY FROM SOUTHEAST WILL EVER BE PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA- DR ADETOKUNBI PEARSE (PDP MEMBER AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS ANALYST). (PHOTO).

‎If We Do Not Rotate The Presidency, Nobody From Southeast Will Ever Be President Of Nigeria- Dr Adetokunbi Pearse (PDP member and Public affairs Analyst).

‎A senior member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, has warned that the Southeast region may not produce a Nigerian president unless the constitution includes a rule for rotating power.

‎During an interview on News Central TV, he explained that the Southeast faces disadvantages in elections because it has fewer states and local governments.

‎Dr. Pearse argued that without a formal system of power rotation, the Southeast would always need support from northern leaders to win the presidency.

‎"If we do not rotate the presidency in this country the way our country is, nobody from the southeast will ever be president of Nigeria. You know why? the votes are not there. Look at the population; when you go to election, how many delegates are going to come from the southeast? How many delegates? Very few because of the number of states, number of local government areas, and so on. The North will always dominate"

‎Dr. Pearse stated that lower number of states and local government in Southeast  leads to lower delegate numbers, reducing the region’s influence in choosing party candidates for the presidency.

‎According him, PDP believes in restructuring and constitutional changes, noting that the PDP has developed a structure to rotate power among Nigeria's six geopolitical zones, aiming to create a fair chance for each region.
