 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  LPPC Elevates 57 Legal Practitioners to Senior Advocate of Nigeria Rank


The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC), chaired by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has approved the elevation of 57 legal practitioners to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) during its 169th plenary session held today in Abuja. The new SANs include 56 advocate appointees and one academic appointee, Prof. Chima Josephat Ubanyionwu.


Among the conferees are only two female legal practitioners: Mrs. Oyinkan Badejo-Okusanya, Chairman of the NBA 2024 Annual General Conference Planning Committee, and Mrs. Chinyere Ekene Moneme. Notable names on the list include Ikechukwu Uwanna, Attorney General of Abia State and former NBA Lagos branch Chairman; Labaran Magaji, immediate past Attorney General of Nasarawa State and current Secretary to the State Government; and Oluwole Jimi-Bada, Attorney General of Osun State.


The LPPC stated that the SAN rank is conferred as “a mark of professional excellence upon legal practitioners who have demonstrated exceptional distinction either as advocates in the courts or as academics contributing significantly to the development of legal scholarship.” The committee also reviewed three petitions against certain applicants, all of which were dismissed for lacking merit.


The 57 new SANs are required to complete a mandatory Pre-Swearing-In Induction Programme, as directed by the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN). The swearing-in ceremony, presided over by Justice Kekere-Ekun, is scheduled for Monday, September 29, 2025.


The full list of new SANs includes prominent legal practitioners such as Akintunde Wilson Adewale, Preye Agedah, Omamuzo Erebe, Hannibal Egbe Uwaifo, Olumide Ekisola, and others, reflecting a diverse group recognized for their contributions to Nigeria’s legal landscape.
