On July 20th, 2025, in the serene coastal village of Kizimkazi, Zanzibar, Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, warmly received a delegation from Miss World Limited, led by its Chair and CEO Julia Morley.
The meeting brought together some of the most inspiring young women of this generation, including the reigning Miss World, Opal Suchata Chuangsri @suchaaata from Thailand, and Miss World Africa and 1st Runner-up, Hasset Dereje @hasset_dereje from Ethiopia. They were joined by ministers from various sectors, including Culture, Sports, Natural Resources, and Tourism.
During the private discussion, Opal and Hasset had the opportunity to personally share the heart of the Miss World platform: their Beauty With a Purpose projects. Opal spoke about her work in breast cancer prevention and awareness in Thailand, while Hasset highlighted her mission to empower young women through skills training and professional development in Ethiopia. The President was visibly impressed by the depth, vision, and impact of both initiatives.
Opal and Hasset also shared their excitement and positive impressions on Tanzania after nearly a week exploring this incredible nation.
Following the discussion, the President posed for official photographs with the two titleholders, presented them with local products, such as Zanzibar’s famous spices, marking a memorable moment in the historic partnership between Miss World and the people of Tanzania.
“The first woman president of Tanzania inspires me. What a thoughtful, intelligent, and caring woman”, said Opal after the meeting. Hasset added: “On top of all that, she has a great sense of humor. I really like her!”.
