 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  PROF. NENTAWE YILWATDA IS APC NEW NATIONAL CHAIRMAN 


Professor Nentawe Yilwatda is the new national chairman of the ruling APC. He is replacing Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who resigned from the position a few weeks ago.


Yilwatda emerged as the party chairman following a meeting between President Bola Tinubu and APC governors on Wednesday. His appointment will be ratified by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) later. 


Yilwatda, 56, is from Plateau State and contested the state election in 2023. With the president and vice-president being Muslims, it was accepted that the APC chairman should be a Christian.


"He is young, suave, well-educated, and doesn’t carry the usual political baggage,” an internal source said. “We believe he can give the party a new face and restore credibility ahead of future elections.”
