 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo. Abia State Police Command Apprehends Suspected Armed Robbers/Cultists; Recovers Pistol, Live Cartridges, and Other Exhibits


Suspects:

1.Udaka Justin, male, 36 years, of Akata Village, Orlu East LGA, Imo State.

2.Chukwuebuka Michael Nnebedun, male, 24 years, of Arondizuagu, Ideato North LGA, Imo State.

3.Prince David, male, 24 years, of Arodizuogu, Ideato North LGA, Imo State.


Exhibits Recovered:

•One (1) short locally made pistol

•Three (3) live cartridges

•One (1) double-edged machete

•One (1) battle axe

•One (1) black face mask

•One (1) sachet of substances suspected to be Indian Hemp and 

 One Auto-rickshaw (keke Napep )


1. On 23/08/2025 at about 9:30pm, operatives of the Quick Intervention Unit (QIU), Abia State Police Command, while conducting stop-and-search operations at Umuagu by School Signboard, flagged down an autorickshaw (Keke Napep) with registration number MBL801VJ, blue in colour, carrying five occupants including the rider.


2. The rider pretended that the tricycle had developed a fault when stopped, giving room for two of the occupants to jump out and escape. However, three suspects were apprehended, who identified themselves as:

•Udaka Justin, male, 36yrs of Akata Village, Orlu East LGA, Imo State;

•Chukwuebuka Michael Nnebedun male, 24yrs, of Arondizuogu, Ideato North LGA, Imo State; and

•Prince David (24), of Arodizuogu, Ideato North LGA, Imo State.


3. Upon searching the suspects, operatives recovered the following exhibits: one locally made short pistol, three live cartridges, one double-edged machete, one battle axe, one black face mask, and one sachet of substances suspected to be Indian Hemp and the Auto-rickshaw ( keke napep)  


4. The suspects and recovered exhibits have been taken into custody, while investigation is ongoing.


5. The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, reiterates the Command’s commitment to reducing crime in Abia State to the barest minimum. He further urges the good people of Abia to continue collaborating with the Police by promptly reporting suspicious persons or activities to the nearest Police Station or through the Command’s emergency lines:
