ADC Denies Claims of INEC Rejecting David Mark’s Leadership

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports alleging that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) refused to recognize its new leadership under Interim National Chairman, Senator David Mark. The party described the claims as “entirely false” and urged Nigerians to disregard the misinformation circulating on social media.

The controversy arose following the ADC’s submission of a report from its 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to INEC, detailing its newly elected leadership, including Mark as Interim National Chairman and several young Nigerians appointed to the National Working Committee (NWC). Despite the submission, unverified reports claimed INEC had rejected the ADC’s new leadership structure.

In a statement posted on X, ADC spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi refuted the allegations, calling them misleading and baseless. “The attention of ADC has been drawn to a story circulating that @inecnigeria has refused to recognise the new leadership of our party under the Distinguished Senator David Mark,” Abdullahi wrote. “This story is entirely false and should be ignored. We urge Nigerian people to ignore such misleading reports from any quarters and stay focused on mobilising the long-suffering people of Nigeria for the great task to save our dear country.”

The ADC’s clarification comes amid efforts to strengthen its leadership and mobilize support ahead of future elections. The party emphasized its commitment to uniting Nigerians for national development and urged the public to focus on its agenda rather than unverified rumors. INEC has not issued an official statement regarding the ADC’s leadership submission, and further updates are anticipated as the situation develops.
