 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 AN INDIAN SCHOOL BANS STUDENTS FROM HAVING SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS OR JOINING ANY WHATSAPP GROUPS APART FROM THE INSTITUTION'S OFFICIAL ONE. 

Ramanujan Senior Secondary School in Nagaon has prohibited its students from maintaining active accounts on Facebook, Instagram, or joining any WhatsApp groups apart from the institution’s official one. The school authority has warned that strict action will be taken against those who violate the rule.


Principal of the school told The Assam Tribune that Android phones have already been banned on campus since 2005. Students living in the hostel are allowed to keep only basic bar phones, and even then, they are given fixed time slots to make calls to their families.


Explaining the move, the Principal said that the use of social media platforms often affects students’ studies and well-being. “After a few incidents came to our notice, we decided to remind the students about this directive,” he added.


The school, which offers classes from VI to XII, believes the restriction will help students focus on academics and personal growth. Experts also support the decision, stating that early and excessive exposure to social media can harm concentration, reduce academic performance, and impact mental health by leading to addiction, distraction, and less real-world interaction.
