Intel CEO responds to Trump’s call for resignation

Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan responded after President Donald Trump called for his immediate resignation, saying he has always operated “within the highest legal and ethical standards.” Trump’s demand came on the Truth Social platform, where he called Tan “highly conflicted” amid concerns about his business ties.

The controversy escalated after Senator Tom Cotton sent a letter to Intel’s chairman, Frank Yeary, questioning Tan’s investments in semiconductor companies allegedly connected to the Chinese Communist Party and the People’s Liberation Army. Cotton asked whether Tan had divested those interests to avoid conflicts of interest. It remains unclear if Tan has done so.

Intel emphasized its strong commitment to U.S. national and economic security, aligning with the President’s America First agenda. Tan, addressing employees, said misinformation had circulated about his past roles but reiterated his adherence to proper standards. He also said Intel was working with the administration to clarify the situation.

Following the news, Intel’s stock saw a slight rise in premarket trading. Tan expressed pride in leading a company central to advancing U.S. economic and security goals and praised the President’s leadership on these issues.
