 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. Kano gov gives land, N5m to families of 22 deceased athletes


Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has donated N5 million and a plot of land to each of the families of the 22 athletes who died in a tragic auto crash while returning from the National Sports Festival in Ogun State.


The athletes, who represented Kano at the festival in June, won six gold, 13 silver, and 10 bronze medals before their demise in Dakatsalle town, Bebeji Local Government Area, about 50km from Kano.


The deceased included athletes, coaches, a journalist, medical staff, drivers, and mechanics.


Governor Yusuf’s Special Adviser on Information Strategy, Ibrahim Adam, confirmed the gesture in a statement via Facebook on Wednesday.


“The Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has donated a plot of land and N5 million to each of the 22 families of the deceased Kano athletes,” he wrote.
