 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

LAGOS POLICE BUST CAR THEFT SYNDICATE, RECOVER STOLEN VEHICLE


Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, Tactical Team Isheri, have successfully dismantled a car theft syndicate with the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of a stolen Toyota Hiace Bus.

On 1 August 2025, a report was received on a suspected case of car theft involving one Salisu Ibrahim Abdullahi ‘m’ aged 31. Acting swiftly on the report, detectives deployed intelligence-driven techniques which led to the arrest of the principal suspect, Salisu Ibrahim Abdullahi in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.


Further investigation led to the arrest of three accomplices: Yenusa Salihu ‘m’ aged 45, a mechanic; Baba Jero Idris ‘m’ aged 49, a car dealer; and Abdullahi Aliyu ‘m’ aged 41, a businessman. All three were apprehended in Kano State, and the operation also resulted in the recovery of the stolen grey Toyota Hiace bus in the same location. The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the ongoing investigation.


The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimohcommends the operatives for the swift and intelligence-led approach that led to dismantling of the car theft syndicate. He assures visitors and residents of Lagos State that the Command will continue to deploy cutting-edge policing strategies to curb vehicle theft and bring elements to justice.
