In a decisive move to reinforce peace, security, and moral order in Anambra State, the Amawbia Youth Vanguard staged a massive protest against the alarming surge of social vices, declaring their commitment to confront illicit activities threatening the safety and dignity of the community.
The demonstration stunned the city as the youth displayed placards bearing bold messages, including: "Say No To Morning Star Guesthouse, Happiness Guesthouse, Nice Day Guesthouse, and Whatsapp Guesthouse."
In a release signed by the Chairman of Amawbia Youth Vanguard, Hon. Comr. Chukwunwendu Benedict Nnagbo, the protest commenced at Eziokpaligwe Square and advanced to suspected criminal hideouts linked to drug dealing, prostitution, brothels, hoodlums, and other illicit activities. The protest particularly targeted Morning Star Guesthouse and Happiness Guesthouse, with the aim of drawing attention to community concerns and demanding their total closure.
The group subsequently marched to the Anambra State Police Headquarters in Amawbia, seeking immediate intervention to shut down the brothels and restore dignity to the Amawbia community.
Addressing the youth, the representative of the Police Commissioner acknowledged receipt of their comprehensive reports and commended them for their peaceful and law-abiding conduct, in accordance with societal norms and statutory regulations.
The demonstration underscored the group’s commitment to building a safer and more respectable Amawbia, while urging the government and security agencies to match words with decisive action.
