 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND DECORATES 89 INSPECTORS TO ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENTS OF POLICE, INDUCTS THEM INTO THE OFFICERS’ MESS


The Anambra State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, today 10th September, 2025 decorated 89 (Eighty-Nine) newly promoted Inspectors to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in a colourful ceremony held at the Command Headquarters, Awka.


The event, which was attended by senior officers of the Command, family members, and well-wishers, marked a significant milestone in the careers of the officers. In addition to their decoration, the officers were officially inducted into the Police Officers’ Mess, symbolizing their transition into the Officer Cadre of the Nigeria Police Force.


The CP represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department Awka DCP Mantu Chong mni congratulated the newly promoted officers and charged them to see their elevation as both a reward for hard work and a call to greater responsibility. He reminded them that leadership in the Nigeria Police Force requires professionalism, discipline, and commitment to the protection of lives and property. He further noted that Promotion comes with higher expectations. In his words: "the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM approved these promotions in recognition of your dedication and sacrifices. You must now justify the confidence reposed in you by ensuring effective service delivery and upholding the values of honesty, fairness, and accountability."


He also urged them to remain role models to their subordinates and to deepen their collaboration with communities in tackling crime and sustaining peace in Anambra State.


Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ASP Oliji Alfred expressed profound gratitude to the Police Service Commission and the Force Headquarters for finding them worthy of the elevation. He pledged that the officers would redouble their commitment to duty and ensure that they live up to the expectations of their new ranks.


The ceremony ended with group photographs and induction formalities into the Officers’ Mess, further cementing the sense of camaraderie and leadership required at their new level of service.
