BENUE GOVT THREATENS TO DERECOGNIZE PMAN OVER FACTIONAL CRISIS

17th September, 2025

The Benue State Government has outlawed all factional leadership structures within youth organizations and issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Benue State chapter, to reconcile or risk losing government recognition.

Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Creativity, Hon. Tiza Isaac Imojime Orya, delivered the directive on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, during a meeting with PMAN stakeholders in Makurdi.

Declaring zero tolerance for parallel groups, Hon. Tiza warned: “I will not allow, under my watch, any form of illegal youth leadership in this state. Any person or group fueling factionalism must know such practices cannot thrive in Benue.”

The Commissioner noted that Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration has development plans for the entertainment sector but factional disputes between the Fidel Shamel/Kpoku bloc and the Robert Udende group have stalled progress. He further dismissed the claims of Supersuccess as PMAN Governor and Romeo Nyamatsa as head of an electoral committee, insisting that reconciliation must be achieved through a peace process led by Ancestor Spit within seven days.

“The Alia administration is open to credible leaders, not factional opportunists. Benue has lost too much at the national level due to divisions, and this government will not permit such setbacks to continue,” Hon. Tiza stated.

Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth and Student Affairs, Hon. Jacob Nevka, reinforced the warning, stressing that government recognition of PMAN would be withdrawn if the crisis persisted.

Stakeholders at the session—including Alfa Bonny, Supersuccess, Kpoku PLC, Fabian Yaga, Fabian Nyamatsa, Fidel Shamel, and Robert Udende—admitted that factionalism had damaged the association and pledged to support unity for the good of the state.

The meeting also drew attendance from past and present PMAN leaders such as Bonase, Msendoo, Queen Pamela, Nyamgen Gabriel, Nick Thomson, Thompson Iber, Hon. Adah Anthony, Evang. Pupa Dish, Terver Aondoakaa, and Dolliz.
