At 4:20 in the morning on September 7th, a video shows Michael Wiseman standing near a door for 2.6 seconds with both hands in his pockets. He walks away after less than 3 seconds. Illinois State Police noted that he had no weapons or burglary tools. The video shows Michael casually walking away in the same path he was walking.
(The two individuals were acquaintances but not close or friends. They had mutual friends.)
Shortly after this, Michael was fatally shot in his aorta, as well as being struck by multiple nonfatal shots while three blocks from the home. There were seven spent casings on the scene where Michael passed away.
According to Illinois State Police, Jesse Trout stated that his mother made him aware that someone was allegedly breaking into their laundry room. Evidence shows that Jesse got into his truck, while armed, found Michael walking, and then shot Michael three blocks away from the home.
I spoke with Michael's brother, Willie, and he states that Michael was a nonviolent guy. He is devastated by the loss and he feels his brother was chased down for three blocks for no reason especially since the video shows him doing nothing wrong. There was no evidence of attempted forced entry. He wants the public to know that the Illinois State Police have charged Jesse with first-degree murder because his brother did not have any weapons and no burglary tools or anything nefarious on him at the time of his passing. He also added that he heard his brother had received some personal news about a relationship that day and he just wasn't himself. The video was very hard for Willie to watch because it's the last time his brother was alive. "He was on foot and Jesse got in a vehicle to hunt him down three blocks away. Willie stated, "I feel so sorry for Michael and I can't imagine how scared he was because he had no way to defend himself and he wasn't a fighter at all. He was in the middle of the street at gunpoint. It's devastating, our family is devastated."
I also spoke with Michael's sister-in-law who stated that Michael's father has Alzheimer's and Michael was always helpful and happy to sit with his father and take care of him. "He was excited every time he was around his dad or his family, he was just a really good guy," Karolin shares.
The video of Michael standing at the doorway was shared online briefly by Jesse's mother. The video has been set to friends only. People did screen capture the video and sent it to us while it was public. At the beginning of the video, it is rewound after Michael is on the screen for about 2 seconds and then the video starts over. I'm not sure if someone rewound it or if the video just did that itself but you can see it being rewound on the bottom and you can also tell by Michael's movements. Meaning, if you didn't notice that it was rewound, it may appear Michael was on the porch for 4 to 5 seconds. He was not.
Due to the ongoing investigation both families cannot share all information but Jesse's mother did reach out and wanted to state that she did perform first aid on the victim that was three blocks away from her home.
Michael's family would like to know why he was shot in the street three blocks away and why 911 wasn't called until a little after 5:00 a.m. in the morning. The video of Michael briefly on a porch with both hands in his pockets shows a time of 4:20 a.m. When this video was shared, Jesse's mother did say it was 4:20 a.m. when she alleged Michael was breaking into a laundry room into her home. I did notice that in the video she shared, she asked anyone if they "knew who this man is". It was Michael on the video. When the video was posted, Michael was deceased. She did change the audience setting on the video shortly after posting it.
There are many questions that need to be answered and they will be in court. Both families are distressed right now.
The coroner did state that the shot that took Michael's life was fatal and Michael did not have a chance to survive however he reassured the family that it was a quick way to go.
Willie concluded by saying, "Seven shots to an unarmed man. That's just wrong no matter what. I'm trying to accept the fact that there were seven bullets around my brother. I'm trying to deal with the fact that he was shot more than once. My brother was unarmed there was no reason to do that to him. He was three blocks away from their home. He obviously wasn't any danger at the time he was shot. It's just senseless. This is senseless."
At this time Jesse Trout is facing first degree murder charges. We will update.
