 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.  NEWBORN DUMPED IN AKWANGA BUSH FOUND ALIVE, MOTHER ARRESTED

A community in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, was thrown into shock on Wednesday after residents discovered a newborn baby girl abandoned in a bush near Hope Academy Primary School in the A. A. Koto area.


Wrapped in a cloth and left to fate, the tiny girl was found still alive and rescued by passersby, who immediately handed her over to the police.


Investigations revealed that her mother, a final-year NCE student of the College of Education, Akwanga, had dumped the child. She was later traced and arrested with the help of friends and schoolmates.


The heartbreaking incident has stirred anger and sorrow among residents, many of whom described the baby’s survival as nothing short of a miracle. They also decried the growing trend of newborn abandonment, blaming it on economic hardship and social pressures.
