 South Africa says US misrepresented its policies after visa curbs South Africa's foreign ministry said on Wednesday that it ‌had noted with concern U.S. visa restrictions on some people from South Africa announced by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio a day earlier. The foreign ministry added in a statement that ⁠the U.S. announcement aligned with "the mischaracterisation of South Africa's domestic policies by fringe groups". "We maintain that challenges in our bilateral relations with the USA can only be resolved by constructive engagement through state actors on both sides of the diplomatic channel not unilateral acts," the statement said, Reuters reported. Trump has repeatedly criticized ‌South ⁠Africa since the start of his second term for what he falsely claims is the racial persecution of its white minority, citing affirmative action laws aimed at ⁠addressing the inequality that has persisted since apartheid. PRESIDENT TINUBU CONGRATULATES DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF ICRC JOBSON OSEODION EWALEFOH ON 50TH BIRTHDAY


President Bola Tinubu extends heartfelt felicitations to Dr Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh, the Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), on his 50th birthday, September 10, 2025.


The President commends Dr Ewalefoh's commitment to advancing Nigeria's infrastructure development through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP).


President Tinubu notes that under Dr Ewalefoh's stewardship, the commission has strengthened regulatory oversight, deepened transparency in project delivery, and aligned its work with the Renewed Hope Agenda through bold and sustainable reforms.


The President recalls the PPP Summit convened by the ICRC in June 2025, which he had the honour of declaring open. The Summit united government, investors, and development partners around a clear framework that has restored confidence and provided fresh momentum for PPP-driven growth.


President Tinubu wishes the Director-General renewed strength, wisdom, and greater success in serving the nation and encourages him to sustain his efforts to deliver world-class infrastructure that meets the aspirations of all Nigerians.
