 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 Savannah Guthrie and Terry Gannon set to co-host 2026 Winter Games opening ceremony

Savannah Guthrie and Terry Gannon will co-host the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, introducing the world’s top athletes at the Milan Cortina Games. The ceremony is set for Feb. 6 and will be broadcast live on NBC and streamed on Peacock.

Guthrie, a “TODAY” co-anchor, will return for her fourth Olympic opening ceremony, having previously co-hosted in Tokyo and Beijing, and last year in Paris for the historic boat parade. She will also continue her role as co-anchor of “TODAY” throughout the Milan Cortina Olympics, following her coverage of past Games in London, Sochi, PyeongChang, Tokyo, and Paris. Gannon, an NBC Sports commentator, will make his opening ceremony debut after having hosted the previous four Olympic closing ceremonies.

Joining them in the broadcast booth will be three-time snowboarding gold medalist Shaun White, who will provide commentary as athletes enter San Siro Stadium in Milan for the Parade of Nations. The stadium, opened in 1926, is home to AC Milan and Inter Milan. White previously contributed to NBC’s Olympic coverage in London (2012) and Rio de Janeiro (2016) and said, “I know what that moment means when the world is watching, and I can’t wait to help bring that magic to everyone at home.”

Guthrie expressed her excitement, saying, “It’s such an honor to celebrate the world’s best athletes and introduce the magic and wonder of the Winter Games and northern Italy to viewers at home.” NBC Sports commentator Mike Tirico will also join the opening ceremony coverage, just days before calling play-by-play for Super Bowl 60. Live coverage begins at 12 p.m. ET, with primetime coverage at 8 p.m., both on NBC and Peacock. The ceremony will be produced by Lindsay Schanzer and directed by Mike Sheehan, both Sports Emmy Award winners.
