AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week. AN INDIANA MOTHER WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AFTER HER CHILD WAS FOUND WANDERING THE STREETS IN A VERY FULL DIAPER WITH A CIGARETTE BURN ON THE CHILD'S FOREHEAD.(PHOTO).

An Indiana mother was taken into custody after her child was found wandering the streets in a very full diaper with a cigarette burn on the child's forehead.

Officers in Evansville, Indiana, received a call at 9:50 p.m. on October 14th. The caller described seeing a young child walking alone in the middle of the road.

Officers arrived on the scene to discover the young child dressed only in pants. According to reports, the child's diaper was so full that urine had soaked through the pants and was dripping onto the child's feet. There also appeared to be a cigarette burn in the middle of the child's forehead.

Officers were eventually able to determine the child's mother is 25-year-old Diasha Dixon. After locating Dixon, she became resistant to questioning and refused to speak to officers. When police questioned Dixon on the whereabouts of her 3 other children, she refused to cooperate.

Dixon's children were ultimately located by authorities, and all 4 children are in DFS custody.  Dixon reportedly told DFS workers the mark on her child's forehead was an insect bite and not a cigarette burn.

Evansville PD arrested Diasha Dixon on charges of neglect of a dependant and obstruction of justice.

Diasha Dixon was booked into Vanderburgh County Jail.
