AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm.  Election Will Not Take Place In Two Polling Units in the upcoming Anambra Election - Prof Amupitan (INEC Chairman)

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, has announced that voting will not take place in two polling units during the upcoming Anambra State governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

According to him, the decision was made because there are no registered voters in those polling units, making it unnecessary to deploy electoral materials or staff there.

Professor Amupitan made this clarification on Tuesday during a meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) in preparation for the Anambra governorship polls.
