 Aguiyi Orders Investigation into Trans Nkisi Mining Site Over Environmental Compliance By Amaka Isikala The Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, has ordered an investigation into the environmental compliance status of a mining site at Trans Nkisi, Onitsha, following concerns over extensive land degradation and its possible contribution to the growing gully erosion threatening the community. The directive followed an inspection visit to the site on August 1, during which the commissioner was accompanied by leaders of the Trans Nkisi community. The visit formed part of the ministry's ongoing assessment of environmentally sensitive locations across the state in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo's Fifth Pillar of Development, Environment and Urban Regeneration. Ike Turner Jr., son of Tina and Ike Turner, dies at 67

Ike Turner Jr., the son of music legends Tina and Ike Turner, has died at the age of 67. According to family members, he passed away Saturday at a Los Angeles hospital from kidney failure. He had faced longstanding heart problems and had recently suffered a stroke in early September, with his health declining over time.

Born in 1958 to Ike Turner Sr. and Lorraine Taylor, Ike Jr. was adopted by Tina Turner early in life and grew up amid his parents’ high-profile music careers. After Tina and Ike Sr. divorced, Ike Jr. briefly worked as her sound engineer. One of four children associated with the Turners’ iconic partnership, he largely stayed out of the public eye in recent years while remaining connected to his parents’ musical legacy. Ike Turner Sr. died in 2007, and Tina Turner passed away in 2023.
