Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner file defamation lawsuit against Ray J over racketeering allegations

Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, have filed a defamation lawsuit against Ray J, accusing him of spreading false claims that they are the target of a federal racketeering investigation and are on the verge of indictment. The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, calls Ray J’s allegations “blatantly false” and describes them as part of a long-running effort to harass and exploit the Kardashian family’s fame.

According to the court filing, Ray J—whose legal name is William Ray Norwood Jr.—has made repeated public statements suggesting he is working with federal authorities on a RICO case against Kardashian and Jenner. The lawsuit highlights two recent incidents: a May television appearance in which he claimed racketeering charges “would be appropriate” against the Kardashians, and a September 30 livestream in which he told millions of viewers that he planned to “drop” a federal RICO case on the two women, saying “the feds is coming” and predicting it would be “worse than Diddy.” Lawyers for Kardashian and Jenner argue that these remarks, made without evidence, have sparked a damaging media storm that has harmed their reputations and business interests.

The filing portrays Ray J’s actions as part of a “sustained campaign of harassment and defamation” rooted in his past relationship with Kardashian more than two decades ago. It asserts that he has repeatedly used their names to “revive his fading notoriety,” pointing to his continued references to their history, including the infamous 2007 sex tape. The lawsuit claims his recent remarks were calculated, not careless, and intended to mislead the public while tarnishing the women’s reputations. Kardashian and Jenner are seeking damages to be determined at trial and are represented by high-profile attorney Alex Spiro, who has handled several cases for celebrities and public figures.
