Michael Wolff sues Melania Trump for defamation over alleged book deal remarks

Journalist Michael Wolff has filed a defamation lawsuit against Melania Trump, alleging the former First Lady tried to block the release of his upcoming book about her life.

Court documents say Wolff claims Melania “deliberately and maliciously” interfered with his publishing contract and publicly defamed him in connection with The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump (Redux). He alleges her team spread false claims that he fabricated interviews, intimidated sources, and created lies for profit, which he says caused international distributors to back out, costing him a multi-million-dollar deal.

Wolff also asserts that Melania personally directed a PR firm to contact media outlets and threaten legal action if they reported on the book, describing it as “a calculated campaign to destroy his reputation and livelihood.” The lawsuit includes a letter from Melania’s lawyers demanding he retract statements he made to the Daily Beast suggesting her involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. Wolff is seeking a court declaration that his book’s content is not defamatory and that Melania would be liable for damages if she continues to harass or block publication.
