Netflix enters podcast market through partnership with Spotify

Netflix is expanding into the podcast world through a new partnership with Spotify, bringing some of the streaming platform’s most popular podcasts to its service in video format starting early next year. The deal will include shows such as The Bill Simmons Podcast, The Ringer Fantasy Football Show, The Rewatchables, The Big Picture, The Dave Chang Show, and a range of true crime programs, giving U.S. audiences first access in early 2026, with additional markets to follow.

The lineup covers sports, pop culture, food, and true crime, though Spotify’s top global podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, is not part of the initial deal. For Netflix, the move represents another way to diversify content beyond movies and TV shows, offering subscribers new formats at relatively low cost. Spotify, meanwhile, is shifting away from exclusive content deals toward broader distribution to reach new audiences.

Netflix’s vice president of content licensing, Lauren Smith, said the partnership adds “fresh voices and new perspectives” for viewers, while Spotify’s Roman Wasenmüller described it as “a new chapter for podcasting” that will help creators expand their reach. Financial terms and the length of the agreement were not disclosed, but the collaboration reflects growing interest in video podcasts as a format. Subscribers can expect a variety of shows across sports, lifestyle, and true crime categories, all available on Netflix with no additional subscription.

Podcasts coming to Netflix:

Sports: The Bill Simmons Podcast, The Zach Lowe Show, The McShay Show, Fairway Rollin’, The Mismatch, The Ringer F1 Show, The Ringer Fantasy Football Show, The Ringer NFL Show, The Ringer NBA Show

Culture/Lifestyle: The Rewatchables, The Big Picture, The Dave Chang Show, Recipe Club, Dissect

True Crime: Conspiracy Theories, Serial Killers
