 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora on the occasion of the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary.


In his message, Ambassador Tuggar noted that Nigeria’s 65 years of nationhood reflect the courage, resilience, and unity of its people in overcoming challenges and seizing opportunities for progress. He emphasized that Nigeria has continued to make strides in consolidating democracy, fostering economic growth, and advancing its leadership role within Africa and the international community.


The Minister highlighted that Nigeria’s foreign policy, anchored on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and guided by the 4Ds -Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora remains central to shaping a secure, prosperous, and globally respected nation.


“As we celebrate this milestone,” the Minister stated, “we honour the sacrifices of our founding fathers and reaffirm our commitment to protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty, promoting regional stability, and engaging the world with dignity and purpose. Let us remain united in building a Nigeria that delivers peace, progress, and prosperity for all.”


Ambassador Tuggar called on Nigerians everywhere to uphold the values of patriotism, service, and unity, assuring that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to project Nigeria’s interests and image positively across the globe. He further urged Nigerians in the Diaspora to remain good ambassadors of their country, promoting its image and contributing to national development wherever they reside.
