THE GOONIES ADVENTURE MOVIE FROM THE 1980S GETS A LEGO ADAPTATION. (PHOTO).

The Goonies adventure movie from the 1980s gets a Lego adaptation

Goonies never say die, but now they say Lego.

Lego has unveiled a 2,912-piece set based on the 1980s adventure classic The Goonies, directed by Richard Donner and produced by Steven Spielberg. The centerpiece of the set is a detailed model of the pirate ship, the Inferno, surrounded by key locations from the film, including the Fratellis’ hideout, boulder traps, the Bone Organ, and One-Eyed Willy’s treasure room.

The set includes 12 minifigures representing the main characters—Mikey, Mouth, Chunk, Andy, and Data—with new pieces created for Sloth’s pirate hat and bandana, as well as Mama Fratelli’s hair and beret. It measures 18 cm wide, 62 cm long, and 36 cm high. To celebrate the launch, Oscar-winning actor Ke Huy Quan, who played Data, appeared in a short Lego-produced film guiding fans through the set and sharing behind-the-scenes memories from the original movie, including the secret reveal of the Inferno ship during filming.

The Lego Ideas set was designed by Greek 3D artist Vaggelis Ntezes, known as Delusion Brick on the platform. Ntezes said the project combined childhood memories of Lego Pirates sets with a love of The Goonies, aiming to create something both display-worthy and playable.

The Goonies set will be available through Lego’s early access program on November 1, followed by a wider release on November 4, priced at $309.99. Early purchasers will receive a bonus 179-piece set, The Goonies: The Walsh’ Attic, which recreates the moment the kids discover the treasure map and includes minifigures of the Walsh parents.

The Goonies remains a beloved 1980s adventure film, written by a young Christopher Columbus and starring Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Jeff Cohen, Martha Plimpton, Kerri Green, and Ke Huy Quan. The Fratellis—Anne Ramsey, Robert Davi, and Joe Pantoliano—and John Matuszak as Sloth rounded out the memorable cast. Set in Astoria, Oregon, the movie’s enduring popularity has made the town a tourist destination, and a sequel is currently in development.
