Tanzania stepping up crackdown on critics after recent polls, UN warns Tanzania has stepped up its crackdown on opponents after contested elections in October that were marred by deadly violence, the United Nations warned Friday, AFP reported. Rights groups say more than 1,000 people were shot dead during three days of protests over elections on October 29 that the opposition and foreign observers describe as fraudulent. Tanzania's President Samia Suluhu Hassan retained the presidency with 98 percent of the vote, but the main opposition candidates were either jailed or disqualified. "The government has intensified a crackdown against opponents since the vote," UN human rights office spokesman Seif Magango told a press briefing in Geneva. "Reports indicate that since mid-November, dozens of individuals including academics, civil society actors and local political leaders have been detained, with several arrests allegedly carried out by unidentified armed personnel....

A MILWAUKEE WOMAN IS FACING CHARGES IN HER FRIEND'S STRANGE DEATH. (PHOTO).

A Milwaukee woman is facing charges in her friend's strange death.

Authorities claim she became "paranoid that her friend was going to stab her after they smoked weed" together.

Authorities were called to a Milwaukee home at approximately 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4th, to the report of shots fired. As officers arrived on the scene, they found 31-year-old Jamica Mills (pictured left) lying on her back with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. They also found a handgun near Jamica and two spent casings. Later investigators would find a Ruger firearm box with purchase information in Jamica's name as well as ammunition matching the spent casings.

As officers continued to process the scene, they discovered 26-year-old Ariel Spillner (pictured right) lying facedown with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to her left shoulder.

Sadly, Ariel would be pronounced deceased later in the evening.

Authorities report that Jamica Mills was combative on scene and at the hospital while being treated for her gunshot wound.

As investigators began to question Jamica, she initially alleged that all she remembered was waking up in the living room and then being at the hospital.

However, as detectives pushed her, a new story emerged. Jamica admitted that she retrieved the firearm after the two smoked marijuana and became paranoid.

She said she became even more paranoid that Ariel would stab her with scissors after she mentioned that Ariel was supposed to cut her dogs hair.

At first, Jamica said they were talking about Ariel's boyfriend when she heard a shot and felt a shot. She claimed she thought Ariel had shot her.

After further questioning, Jamica admitted to shooting Ariel because she claimed Ariel made "a hand motion". However, she also told detectives she did not see Ariel with the scissors and that Ariel had not threatened her.

Jamica went on to say that she accidentally shot herself in the stomach as she walked to the front door after shooting Ariel. Jamica told detectives her and Ariel had been friends for over a year, and she did not mean to take her life.

Jamica Mills was arrested on Saturday and charged with reckless homicide and use of a dangerous weapon.

She made her first court appearance on Sunday, November 9th, where her bond was set at $ 150,000. Jamica Mills' next court appearance is set for November 17th.

Our thoughts are with Ariel's loved ones.
