Catholic Priests Not Like ‘Fake Bishops’, Atiku Blasts Presidency’s Attack On Onaiyekan Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress ADC, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the Presidency’s attack on the Catholic Church and John Cardinal Onaiyekan, accusing the President Bola Tinubu administration of growing intolerant of dissent and uncomfortable truths. In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu on Sunday, Atiku said the Presidency chose intimidation and political attacks instead of reflecting on the substance of the cleric’s message. Catholic bishops had recently had an engagement with the president, where the latter defended his record and the independence of the electoral umpire. However, the cardinal in a television interview on Friday said the Catholic bishops told the president that the country is bleeding and the economy is not helping poor citizens.  Ex-Grizzlies star Tony Allen faces drug-related arrest in Arkansas 

Former Memphis Grizzlies star Tony Allen has been arrested in Arkansas on drug-related charges, according to local authorities.

The Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Allen faces two charges of drug possession—one felony and one misdemeanor—and is being held without bond. The arrest occurred after a traffic stop about 50 miles from Memphis, when the vehicle Allen was riding in was pulled over for an improper lane change. Officials say Allen was found with a bag of marijuana, and deputies reportedly discovered cocaine in a cigarette box during a search of the car.

Allen, 43, spent the bulk of his NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies from 2011 to 2017 and also played for the Boston Celtics and New Orleans Pelicans. He is widely regarded as one of the league’s top defensive players, and the Grizzlies retired his jersey in March.

This is not Allen’s first legal issue. In 2023, he pled guilty in a federal case involving an NBA health insurance and fraud scheme and was sentenced to community service and three years of supervised probation.
