AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week.  I See a Female President in Nigeria, and She Will Be from the Southeast--------Primate Ayodele

According to a Facebook post by INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, recently made a bold prediction about Nigeria’s political future.

“I foresee a female president in Nigeria, and she is from the Southeast,” he said in a video published by the church on its Facebook page.

The cleric also spoke extensively about the nation’s security challenges. He criticized the government’s approach to kidnappings and killings, warning that negotiating with terrorists only encourages their actions.

“Negotiation suggests we are encouraging these actions,” Ayodele said, urging authorities to take stronger, more decisive measures rather than misleading Nigerians.

Ayodele further claimed that the current insecurity is being orchestrated by “five individuals,” whose identities he did not disclose.

He warned that the mismanagement of security has turned a grave national issue into a “business,” emphasizing the urgent need for genuine solutions to restore safety across the country.

Beyond security, the prophecy of a female president introduces a new angle to political discourse, highlighting issues of regional representation and gender in Nigeria.

The cleric’s prediction suggests a potential shift in the country’s political landscape, raising questions about leadership, inclusivity, and the evolving role of women in governance.
