 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week.  I have been on call for over 42min with Deputy Speaker and from what he briefed me, all hopes are not lost, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will get freedom hopefully because it's now that the president can take action as the matter is no longer in the Court- Cubana ChiefPriest 


The Igbo born businessman, Cubana ChiefPriest has raised the hopes of Ndi concerning the freedom of Nnamdi Kanu, after he was sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday. Cubana ChiefPriest revealed that he has spoken with the deputy speaker of the federal house of Representative, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, and the speaker assured him that Nnamdi Kanu can still be granted freedom by President Tinubu. 


According to Cubana ChiefPriest, all hopes are not lost for the release of Nnamdi Kanu. Chiefpriest assured Ndigbo that the deputy speaker is not a weak man but an action man.


Cubana ChiefPriest also revealed that from the conversation he had with the deputy speaker, they are delegates that have been assigned to meet with the president to discuss the release of Nnamdi Kanu, He urged the president to please listen to those delegates.


He further Emphasized that since the detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, southeast has failed woefully and that Southeast need to rise again. Lastly, Cubana ChiefPriest revealed that him and the deputy speaker will be visiting Nnamdi Kanu soon.
