AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. Pope Leo hosts cathedral rave featuring Priest DJ to mark Archbishop’s 75th birthday

In an unprecedented blend of spirituality and modern culture, the Vatican marked the 75th birthday of Archbishop Bernard Bober with a large outdoor rave organised outside St. Elisabeth Cathedral in Košice, Slovakia.

According to organisers, Pope Leo XIV approved the celebration and invited a popular priest DJ to lead the event, drawing thousands of attendees to the cathedral square.

A heartfelt video message from the Pope was played on the massive screen overlooking the crowd before the event transitioned into an energetic performance mixing electronic dance music with spiritual themes. Witnesses described the atmosphere as a “fusion of faith and festival culture,” noting the enthusiastic response from young people across the region.

Observers say the celebration reflects the Pope’s broader effort to engage younger generations and bring religious life into the modern era. The turnout in Košice, believed to be in the thousands, has been praised as a positive sign of renewed youth engagement with the Church.
