 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  At least 11 dead in South African bar shooting

 At least 11 people, including three children, were killed in a mass shooting at a bar in Saulsville, a township near Pretoria, South Africa, authorities said Saturday.

Fourteen others were injured and taken to local hospitals with gunshot wounds, though police did not specify their ages. The shooting occurred in the early hours at an unlicensed bar.

The children who died were a 3-year-old boy, a 12-year-old boy, and a 16-year-old girl. Police said they are actively searching for three suspects connected to the attack.

South Africa continues to grapple with high levels of violence, recording over 26,000 homicides in 2024—an average of more than 70 deaths per day.
