No good deed goes unpunished.  A Florida sea tow captain saved a man from a burning ship only to be shoved overboard and have his boat stolen. This shocking incident occurred near Marco Island on March 6th. On that date, a call went out regarding a burning boat. The captain of a sea tow boat heard the distress call and rushed to provide aid. He was able to quickly locate the burning boat and  discovered 40-year-old, Ryan Deiter, and his dog onboard the burning ship. Wasting no time, the captain of the sea tow boat was able to maneuver alongside the distressed boat and begin efforts to extricate Deiter and his dog from the doomed vessel.  Eventually, the sea tow captain was able to pull both Deiter and his dog onboard the tow boat. However, once Deiter was pulled to safety, he repaid a stranger's kindness with treachery.  Deiter shoved the captain from his own boat and fled the scene in the stolen boat, leaving the man who had just risked his own vessel and life...

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION: LASPARK OFFERS FREE ENTRY FOR FESTIVITIES, EXTENDS PARK HOURS TO 8.00 PM

The Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) has announced special arrangements to enhance the Yuletide experience for residents and visitors across the State, including free access to all LASPARK-managed parks and an extension of park closing hours during the Christmas period.

According to a statement issued by the Agency, all parks under its management will enjoy free entry between 12:00 noon and 8:00 pm every day from Thursday, 25th to Saturday, 27th December 2025, as part of activities lined up to celebrate the Christmas season and promote family bonding, recreation, and healthy living among Lagosians.

This is also in line with the Agency’s gesture to extend daily closing time for all parks from 6.00 pm to 8:00 p.m. throughout the free three-day period, allowing residents ample opportunity to relax, enjoy the serene ambience, admire the festive lights and create lasting memories with friends and loved ones.

The Agency noted that the initiative aligns with the Lagos State Government’s commitment to improving the quality of life of residents by providing accessible, safe, and well-maintained green spaces for leisure, wellness, and social interaction.

The statement added that the extended hours will enable more people, especially those with busy schedules, to take full advantage of the parks during the holidays.

While entry into the parks will be free during the stated period, LASPARK clarified that normal terms and conditions will continue to apply to group bookings, organised events and special activities, urging interested parties to make necessary arrangements in advance.

It also assured park users of adequate security, cleanliness and facility management across all locations to ensure a safe, enjoyable and memorable Christmas celebration for all.

The Agency, therefore, encouraged residents to visit their neighbourhood parks, unwind in nature and celebrate the season responsibly, while wishing Lagosians a Merry Christmas and a joyful festive season.
