 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week.  Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers in Stranger Things, recently shared in an exclusive interview that he was deeply touched while reading a key scene from season 5's Volume 2. 

In this emotional moment from the penultimate episode, Will opens up about his feelings and identity to his family and friends in a heartfelt conversation.


Schnapp said he "cried reading" the script and praised the Duffer brothers for writing it "so perfectly." He admitted feeling nervous about how the scene would play out, especially the warm group hug from characters like Jonathan, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Eleven that follows. However, he shared that filming made it feel natural and genuine.


The actor highlighted how meaningful this storyline is, noting the support from fans and how it could resonate with young people going through similar experiences. He expressed gratitude for the thoughtful way the scene was handled, which ties into Will's personal growth and journey in the final season. Volumes 1 and 2 are now streaming on Netflix, with the series finale arriving on December 31.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
